GASTROENTEROLOGY

Gastroenterology is a branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. Physicians practicing in this field are called gastroenterologists. It is the sub-speciality of internal medicine. Investigations such as endoscopies, colonoscopies etc. and certain procedures such as PEG and ERCP (Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography ), used to remove gall bladder stones, are done by gastroenterologists.
